2 weeks of wrap

A small confession about last week’s lack of wrap: I was in the middle of a book series, and I….kept reading. In my defense, weekday binge reading would have been problematic. Considering my last WW title was “suspiciously productive”, maybe this one should have been “suspiciously unproductive”.

Library-bound book is The Thief. If you look these up, try to avoid plot summaries….most are spoiler-y.

Anyway! Last we talked about running, my goal was 15-ish miles for the week. It went well for one week, at least.

Week of Feb. 11

Three runs: 4.25 miles, 3.25 miles, 6.5 miles. 14 miles total, so I count that as 15-ish. Two strength workouts. The last half of my long run felt like running through molasses, which I guess shouldn’t have been surprising since it was both the longest run and highest mileage week post-injury.

Week of Feb. 18

Runs: 1.6 miles, 3.9 miles, 1.8 miles; 7.3 miles total. I had planned 7ish miles this weekend, but felt like I was getting sick Fri-Sat. I feel ok now, so…*shrug*.

Also two strength workouts, and one pool running class. I guesstimate the class translates to 4-5 miles (it’s 50 minutes), but I actually have no idea. Is there even an equivalent between pool running time and land distance? I’ve been meaning to ask the instructor.

I’m planning to be back around 15 miles this week, and maybe…mayyyybe…up to 20 miles in 3-4 weeks.

Any ideas on the pool running/distance equivalence?

What’s the last thing you binge read?

  1. There are many worse things than binge reading!

      Very true!

  2. I haven’t done a series in a long time. Divergent, maybe?

I haven’t decided when I want to run again. Our weather is so miserable right now (although probably better than yours). I am keeping active in other ways, but I also don’t want to lose that base. I guess I’ll know when the right time is — sometime this week, I’m pretty sure.

I’ve heard good things about Divergent, but never picked it up – just burned out on dystopias i think.

I would love a weekend to binge read! I do go to bed suspiciously early to read, tho…and I end up staying up late to finish my books.

I’m only running about 15-18 miles per week these days. So pathetic…

I didn’t exactly have a weekend to binge read, I just….took it anyway. usually I’m just guilty of staying up late too.

  4. I was reading an Iris Murdoch novel for the fourth time the other week and could not put it down after I’d finished my lunch, even though I knew what happened, etc! Great pictures and good running, glad to see you’re back to full strength again.

Sometimes it’s harder to put down a good book on a re-read because I’m anticipating the next part!

  5. Ummmm, when Harry Potter books were released I was the binge reader (not my kids LOL). I re-read the entire series (in binge-read fashion) every time a new book was released. I miss those days of new HP books!!!!

I missed all the original HP buzz, so by the time I read them – several years after the last one came out – there was less excitement!

  6. I used to be such a reader and then work and kids and running came along! But I am so glad to be back reading again. Reading was always my first love. You didn’t hit all the miles you wanted to but I’m so glad you are back to running again. Step by step!

Always worth it to make time to read!

I would love to say that I binge read but I guess other things have taken priority lately (kids, running, work, sleep, etc) I do binge listen to audio books while running or driving so I am always on the lookout for a great series.

Great job getting your runs in even with getting ill, this cold season has been a beast!

I have had to learn to read at a more moderate pace for the most part, but I think I will always prefer binge reading when I have the chance!

I wish I would binge read! I binge start books and don’t finish them! Does that count???

I am so late to comment in your weekly wrap post – I hope you are having a better week!

Well that’s….a start? I can’t handle starting books and not finishing them, so I don’t know!
