First week of a new training plan – which I didn’t get around to writing a post about. I have today off, though, so I will start writing it today and get it posted by Wednesday.
6.1 miles easy.
3.2 miles with 6x hill sprints. I planned on ~4 miles total, but I always forget how much time hill sprints take (because of the recovery intervals).
Lower body strength workout.
35 minute cycle class.
5.1 miles easy. It suddenly got very windy on the top of this hill and I kept getting snow blown into my ears.
Upper body strength workout.
Active rest day – went for ~1 hour of snowshoeing with Kara. The snowshoeing aspect was a bit disappointing, because I chose a trail everyone recommends for snowshoeing but the trail was packed and there wasn’t actually any need for the shoes.
9.6 easy….ish miles. I planned to run 10 on a trail I knew was packed down for a pretty long way, but looks are deceiving. Around the 2.5 mile mark the trail starting getting more soft and uneven – still good for hiking boots, but really difficult to run on.
I turned around at 3 miles and finished the rest of the run on the road.
24 miles, 1500 feet elevation gain, 2 strength workouts, 1 cycle class.
