Hello! I’m currently recovering from yesterday’s trail race and thinking about the chores I need to get done today. But first, I’m going to sit down with some coffee and some reading. And I brought some reading for you, too:

Outdoors & travel

One-pot camping recipes: stroganoff and yaki udon.

Have those camp dinners with one of these cocktails for summer camping.

How to get through airport security faster. Although probably not much faster since nobody in front of you will do this.

Health & fitness

If you’re doing speedwork but don’t seem to be getting any faster, here are some tips to get that PR.

A thorough guide to safely increase your running mileage.

Caffeine is a performance enhancer, but it could actually slow some people down.

Use eccentrics in your strength training – they improve flexibility as well as strength.

Exercise alternatives for hip thrusts. I tried number 3 – it’s hard.

Common mistakes in forward folds. If you’re inflexible (me), you probably won’t fold very far if you’re doing them properly!

Brain food

We’re living in the future: DNA-based storage.

Fungi might be able to survive on Mars.

Women have been excluded from clinical trials because of “complexity of the menstrual cycle” – and those “complexities” may explain why women’s immune systems react differently.

Celery: why? (As in, why did humans start cultivating a low-calorie, relatively flavorless food?)

Relaxation improves creativity – especially if you’re an introvert.

Stomach food

This is the best tofu: crispy baked tofu.

Easy baked falafel

White bean and collard green spaghetti

Beetroot paratha

Weekend breakfast: no yeast dirty chai sweet rolls.

Going to need this for the late summer zucchini explosion: habanero mango zucchini pickles.

You must try berbere if you haven’t – how about on Ethiopian style spicy popcorn?

Berry cheese cake popsicles

No-bake mint chocolate chip oreo bites

And finally, a very cool-looking cocktail: jellyfish shots.

Anyone else race this weekend?
