Off the rails: week in review

After typing it out, that title sounds maybe just a bit dramatic. But seriously: everything was going to plan up until Thursday afternoon, when I came down with a cold. Isn’t that how it usually works? Here’s how my virus-truncated week went:

Monday: Strength workout & 1-mile run. Plus meal planning and lots of errands and cleaning the house, since I didn’t have to go to campus today.

Tuesday: Strength workout & yoga class, plus a bunch of lab work and class work.

Wednesday: 3-mile run. PSA: clear your sidewalks so they do not become solid sheets of ice after melting and refreezing. Also made myself an overly ambitious schedule for doing research reading and writing. And read 2 journal articles, so at least I got off to a good start.

Thursday: And then the cold bugs attacked. I wrote a paper for class because it was due Friday. BUT…

Friday: I planned to edit it Friday and left the paper on my computer at school. Why yes, I do know about the cloud and flash drives….I just opted not to use them for some (very bad) reason. So I went to campus solely so I could submit the paper. Then I was done for the week.

Weekend: Finished the book I planned to read last weekend – at least sick days are good for that! (I’m trying Goodreads for tracking books currently…I don’t write reviews often, but if you want to see what I’m reading anyway, here’s my profile.) And I walked the dog and shoveled the porch because dogs and snow wait for no one.

And today I’m feeling back to normal, so I’m just going to shove everything I didn’t get done last week into this week. I’m sure it’s fine.

Preferred sick day entertainment: books or movies/TV shows?

Glad you are feeling better! I had a tummy bug over the weekend, so I totally get it. It seems like everybody is sick these days.

Sorry to hear you were sick and glad you are feeling better! I prefer watching tv shows when I’m sick. It’s a good way to get caught up on all the shows I’ve been missing.

I don’t usually have the brainpower for anything new while I’m sick!

  3. Glad your cold didn’t hang around too long. I like watching movies or catching up on shows that I have DVR’d when I’m sick. I save books for when I’m traveling. Thanks for linking!

I don’t save books at all…I tear through them 🙂

  4. You’re so inspiring and motivating to be training besides the weather, Hannah! Being sick is at least good for catching up with reading and binging on TV shows. 🙂

and that’s about all it’s good for 😉

  5. Oh noooo! Boo to sickness.

I’m not very good at sick days (and usually just work through) so when I’m having a sick day it’s usually because I’m SUPER sick – and then I usually can’t do anything but sleep!

I try to take sick days before I’m super sick….if I just keep going I’m almost certain to get super sick.
