Which season is it? (week in review)

We started out the week still firmly entrenched in summer, switched directly to winter, and now it seems to be fall. Let’s discuss in the context of running, because why else do runners talk about the weather?

Monday: It was hot and hazy. I ran hills. My mouth tasted like smoke the whole time and continued to do so until I ate lunch. Gross.

Tuesday: Still gross. Did a strength workout.

Wednesday: Took my speed workout to the treadmill because it was still gross outside, followed by a yoga class. Then it started raining later in the day. Apparently I was too impatient to get my run in.

Thursday: I had the probably worst night of sleep I can remember Wednesday night. I managed about 2 hours of sleep, for no reason at all that I could figure out. So I would have done nothing at all Thursday, except I had a doctor’s appointment in the morning and a dentist appointment in the afternoon, so I went to a TRX class in between.

Weekend: I do realize I skipped Friday. I was still super tired and did essentially nothing. Anyway, Saturday we woke up to this:

Despite my love of cold runs, I pushed my weekend run back to Sunday. It was much warmer than I expected and I would have preferred Saturday…but hindsight, etc.

Most of the rest of the weekend was spent canning my way through 10ish pounds of tomatoes – salsa, pizza sauce, and tomato jam. And a couple jars of pickled beets, because why not.

  1. A weekend spent canning is a great thing in my mind. Now you’ve got lots of summers bounty to eat in the winter, the real winter, not those flurries y’all got last week. I’ll take one jar of everything please. 🙂

  2. Wow you did have quite a bit of weather! Ours stayed in the dog days of summer. Fall came for a minute a few weeks ago but she packed up and left! I do hope she’ll return soon!
    I really wish I got into canning! Some of my friends have gardens and they eat so well all winter long!

  3. We only had two season: Fall and Summer. But, I’m ready now for Summer to go away. I’m very impressed with your canning! We had a huge garden when I was little and my Mother canned all the fruits and veggies. Thanks for linking!

      My garden (and subsequent canning) is pretty small, but that works out since it’s only feeding two people.

    haha, I’m with you there–it definitely doesn’t seem like fall yet, but I like to think this might mean I’ll have a chance to go camping/hiking a little later into the season than I thought! *-* That’s awesome that you got so much canning done!
