Shuffling along: week in review

Let’s start this review with the weekend. Saturday night we went to the Snowshoe Shuffle, an event put on by the local animal shelter. We snowshoed a short trail around the ski resort with a pack of other humans and dogs. Somehow, I missed getting a picture of Kara with any of her 50ish new friends. Instead I just have this photo of her taking a break to eat snow:

As you might surmise by the lighting, the Shuffle started a bit before sunset and we got done not long after sundown. Unfortunately, it was completely overcast, so we didn’t get to hike off into the sunset. No complaints about these views though:

Continuing backward through the week: I also got in a short run earlier on Saturday. I had to skip Friday’s planned run because of some vertigo. But Wednesday’s “long” run was my best run in a while. I planned on 5 miles, but between missing a turn and accidentally changing my route (not sure how that happened), I ended up with 5.5. AND I wasn’t exhausted afterwards. Maybe it was the views…

The rest of the week went uneventfully as planned (uh, on the workout front. The work front was a different story.) I did a yin yoga video for the first time in…probably months? I love yin because it forces you to slow down, but most classes are at least an hour long. This video is one of my favorites for a shorter yin practice.

Keeping it short this week…it’s only 8:30 and I’m ready to sleep!

Have you ever participated in a snowshoe event?

Have you tried yin yoga? If not, maybe it’s time to try the 20-min class I linked up above…

Sorry to hear about your vertigo 🙁
The Snowshoe Shuffle sounds like such a fun time. I would love to do something like that one day.

      It was so fun!

  2. I have never snow-shoed. I’ve got to put that on my list. It’s cool they have an event you can do with your dogs at sunset — even though you couldn’t see it. 🙁 Great job on your long run this week! Work stress seems to be a theme for this past week. Let’s hope for a calmer week. Thanks for linking.

Fortunately the dogs don’t care about the sunset! They all thought it was great.

Those views! Altho I wonder if you, like the rest of us, are tired of snow and cold by this time of year?

I do love yin yoga. It really is the best for body and mind.

I am not. I start melting when it’s 50 and sunny….and I grew up in Texas!

  4. Those views are beautiful. I have never been snowshoeing. Sounds fun yet challenging! I have never done yin yoga. I have a hard time slowing down.

Yin is so good for slowing down. And the short classes are good if you have a hard time with it…

  5. I’ve heard a lot about yin yoga but haven’t tried it yet.

I haven’t tried snow shoeing yet either. You really have to drive a ways around here to get to the places with good views — and frankly, if I’m going to do something outside in the cold, I’d rather be running! Running seems easier than snow shoeing. 🙂

Running is easier…there are snowshoes made for running, and I can’t imagine.

  6. I have not done snowshoeing yet, but it looks beautiful!

      It was!

  7. Those views are incredibly and the snowshoeing sounds fun, although cold.

Great job on the 5.5 mile run. I’m impressed.

Happy Monday and thanks for linking up.

It was less cold than it looks!

  8. Those views are pretty spectacular! I have never snow-shoed before…I bet it’s a great workout!

      Especially up a hill…

Snowshoeing with 50 dogs! How cool is that!!?! I’ve only tried snowshoeing once… way back in grade 7, I believe. And I remember it being wayyyyy harder than stubborn me thought it would be. Snow doesn’t kid around.

Congrats on the 5.5 mile. Hope you felt pumped after that one!

      Yep…way harder than it looks!

  10. I’ve never even seen snow – so definitely no snow shoeing here! 😜

I need to check out that video!

      It’s so relaxing!

I saw a post with snowshoes mentioned before, they must be great for hiking on the snow.
