Week in review #3

when rest isn't enough - what an autoimmune flare or crash feels like

I had a neurology appointment last week and learned exactly what I expected to learn – which was nothing. I’m probably okay…so I’m going to continue assuming I’m okay. That sounds like vague blogging and probably is; some things you can either write nothing about or write pages about, but a few sentences just won’t do.

So, since I have nothing else to say on that topic for now, here’s what I accomplished this week:

Made it farther than 10K, finally. Let’s not talk about how long it’s been since I’ve run farther than 6 miles…actually, I have record of it here, it was July. And this radar was displaying my speed, you know, just in case I was running in excess of 25 mph. Heh.

Also got in two more runs, but only one strength workout. You can’t have everything.

Turned my dining room into a gardening room, apparently. The pots on the left are tomatoes and peppers to be transplanted outside eventually, and the ones on the right are the start of my indoor herb garden. The tray full of dirt below those is supposed to be growing microgreens – new experiment, we’ll see.

Made it to the grocery store….on Friday. We didn’t starve and we ate at least some vegetables every day, so that’s good. But now the crisper drawers are empty except for two sad celery sticks, one green onion, and a nub of ginger. You see why I need a garden…I can’t be trusted to run errands consistently.

Checked books out from the city library. I have a long list of books the city library has that the university library doesn’t. (And a long list of books that the university library has, and a long list of books neither library has…basically I have 3 “to be read” lists, and they’re all long.) Anyway, I usually go to the university library in the interest of time, but I finally made it to the city library this week.

Made homemade pizza. Can we not talk about how many frozen pizzas we’ve cooked in the past couple months? K thanks.

Basked in the brief return of winter. I will never not enjoy snow and cold.

What did you accomplish last week?

  1. We better be done with snow and winter! Can’t say I’ll be missing that. That pizza looks delicious. I never make homemade pizza. I don’t know why really, I’m sure it is simple enough.

Even simpler if you buy premade dough – I usually make my crust but this one is from the grocery store bakery!

I dig your life for many reasons: So jealous of your new dining-room-turned-gardening-room. I dream of the day I have indoor herbs all over my windowsills, succulents in every corner, and an actual garden outside my door. This will never happen of course as everything green I touch dies.. but I won’t stop dreaming! Also because of your desire and love of reading. Libraries are the coziest places…. I’m happy you are a such a library user.
Congrats on the run! And for making good use of those groceries.

Yes! Libraries are so cozy and QUIET. That’s half the reason i go.

  3. I am loving on the soon to be garden. I’m excited to put mine in here, although I’ll probably use starters as opposed to seeds. I can’t seem to get it together early enough for seeds. I’m curious to see how the microgreens come out.

I finally hooked my Kindle up with the on-line library system and suddenly the sky is the limit. It’s everything. So. Many. Books. Yeah.

    Thanks for linking up.

The only reason I can get it together early enough to start my own seeds is that most plants don’t go outside until at least Memorial Day here!

  4. Congrats on getting in a longer run! Instead of frozen pizza, I’ve been picking up fresh pizza from the deli case of our grocery store. They are so good! And somehow in my head, I feel they are better than frozen. I’m digging your gardening room (pun intended). Thanks for linking, Hannah!

We do fresh pizza from Papa Murphy’s fairly often – totally better than frozen! Our grocery store’s fresh pizzas aren’t my favorite, unfortunately.

  5. Ugh! BOO to no answers 🙁 I hate that so much!

Way to go on achieving so many things in the last week though! That pizza looks goooooooood! <3
